About EBEC

EBEC is an engineering competition organised by BEST. EBEC – European BEST Engineering Competition – is the largest engineering competition in Europe, spanning 80+ local rounds, 15 regional finals and one European final each year. EBEC Trondheim is the local round at NTNU and will be held on March 10 at NTNU’s campus at Gløshaugen. NTNU students will compete in teams of 4 to solve an engineering related task. The competition is open for all technology students at NTNU, regardless of subject or level. You can choose to compete in one of the two categories, Team Design or Case Study.

Team Design

This category consists of solving a given technical problem within a limited period of time and materials. Team Design challenges the students’ engineering skills, as well as their creativity, academic knowledge and ability to cooperate. The outcome is a physical product that meets the requirements.

Case Study

The students will be given a case where the participants have to find an innovative solution. The teams will find the best solution, using their analytical skills, academic knowledge, creativity and ability to cooperate. At the end, each team will give a presentation of their solution.

What happens to the winning teams?

EBEC takes place on three different levels; local, regional and European. The winners of EBEC Trondheim will have an opportunity to compete in the regional finals, known as EBEC Nordic, this year in Copenhagen. The winners of this regional round will move to the last level, the European Finals, which will consist of teams from all over Europe. This years final will be held in Belgrade.
